Shana created this room for a lovely 6 year old girl who adores nothing more than rainbows and magical unicorns combined. The girl's mother had shown Shana the large, colorful, stuffed animal unicorn to the left of the bed at their initial meeting and said, "This is my daughter's spirit animal." Taking that cue, Shana was able to transform a previously dark and habitually unused bedroom into the magical, whimsical, and colorful oasis seen here. Although the client at times felt trepidation about how the room would come together with so many colors - including the fabulous rainbow rug - everyone was thrilled with the final outcome.
The space has a shimmering sequin backdrop for the bed, with rainbow LED lights behind on a dimmer. The chalkboard on the wall folds down to function as a craft desk. The desk in the room was a hand-me-down from the girl's older sister, and Shana had it painted purple (along with the bathroom vanity.) The bean bag is actually filled with stuffed animal, as part of the toy storage solution for this room. The shelf wall is fully customizable and will easily grow with the little girl as her interests and storage needs change from toys to books and accessories. By going through the little girl's toys, Shana was able to create a custom storage solution that even a 6 year old has managed to grasp and maintain on her own!
Prior to this make-over, the little girl had never spent the night in her own room. It is amazing to report that since the completion of this design she has spent every night in her room, in her own bed. This room design actually changed this routine in her life for the better!
