This client wanted to create a soft, feminine nursery for her baby girl. Shana created a feminine forest of white trees with pink leaves, and gold butterflies! The texture of the wall made the gold butterflies look as if they were made out of hammered metal, when in reality they are vinyl decals! Shana hand-placed every trunk, branch, leaf, butterfly and polka-dot on the walls to ensure that the balance of the mural would be perfect. She suggested an entire wall of shallow shelves to showcase the extensive children's book collection, and allow the child to see the face of the books in order to make easier selections. Because the room is small, the closet doors were removed and the closet was made to be a special design element in the room. Shana replaced the existing closet rods with gold ones, found gorgeous child-sized pink flocked hangers with gold hooks, and added gold polka-dots to the walls for interest. An eclectic mix of bins and hampers allow for diaper, clothes, and toy storage. The pink roman shade at the window with the white grosgrain ribbon detail is actually a black-out shade, and the crib skirt shimmers with elongated polka-dots of gold threads. This nursery is a subtle palette of richly layered details. Scroll through to see more!
